<\/figure>While still a teenager, David’s playing was compared with “the maestro of Pianists Maurizio Pollini” and Josef Lhevinne, a virtuoso pianist who was a contemporary of Rachmaninoff<\/strong>. David has appeared abroad, and around the UK, including in London’s South Bank, St John’s, Smith Square and in St James’ Piccadilly where he has given recitals and played piano concertos with the fully professional Brandenburg Sinfonia. He has previously appeared with many leading amateur orchestras and has even played the Liszt<\/strong> Eb, Grieg<\/strong> and Rachmaninoff<\/strong> 2nd concertos in one evening!<\/p>\n\n\n\n David started playing the piano at the age of three off his father’s fingers, and aged 6 had formal lessons with Iris du Pre, mother of the world-famous ‘cellist. At the age of 11, he was only child pupil of Eric Hope Kt.T., and continued with him when joining the Junior Exhibitioners Course at the Royal Academy of Music. At the Royal College of Music, studying with Kendall Taylor CBE, while most students would be lucky if they performed a single concerto, David performed three – including being the first ever student to direct a Mozart<\/strong> Piano Concerto – No. 23 in A, K488 – from the keyboard! While undertaking a Masters degree in Piano Performance, he studied with Philip Fowke and then subsequently had lessons with Prof. Jonathan Dunsby and Liszt’s grand-pupil, Charles Proctor OBE (who had studied with one of Liszt’s pupils, Emil Sauer – the editor of the Peters edition of Liszt’s piano works).<\/p>\n\n\n\n David’s phenominal technique, which always serves the music rather than being an end in itself, allows him to play repertoire such as Liszt\u2019s<\/strong> monumental transcriptions of Wagner\u2019s<\/strong> Tannhauser Overture<\/em> and Liszt\u2019s<\/strong> own Symphonic Poem, Les Preludes<\/em>, as well as Rachmaninoff\u2019s<\/strong> Third Piano Concerto.
