How many pianists have conducted Tchaikovsky\u2019s<\/strong> Pathetique<\/em> Symphony in the same concert as playing the epic Rachmaninoff<\/strong> Third Piano Concerto – having also organised the whole event too? How many have played the Grieg<\/strong>, Liszt<\/strong> Eb and Rachmaninoff<\/strong> Second concertos in one concert? How many tenors singing the solos in Handel\u2019s<\/strong> The Messiah<\/em> for the first time have also conducted the choir\u2019s numbers as well as accompanied all of the other professional soloists on the piano? How many have done all of these things?! Incredible as it may sound, David has done them all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n While David has performed some of the most virtuosic repertoire written for the piano, including the Liszt<\/strong> Sonata in B minor <\/em>and concertos by Rachmaninoff<\/strong>, Grieg<\/strong> and Tchaikovsky<\/strong> – often conducting equally large-scale symphonic and\/or choral works in the same concert – he is equally at home playing quieter popular repertoire. He has recently also sung demanding tenor solos, including the Verdi Requiem<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His compositions include children’s songs, carols, church anthems and instrumental works, and have been broadcast on Classic FM<\/em> and given ‘live’ performances in the UK (including at the South Bank) and abroad. His arrangements range from Worship Songs (pub. RSCM), choral medleys of Songs from the Shows, virtuoso piano transcriptions, and reduced orchestrations of Parry<\/strong> I was Glad<\/em> (pub Novello), Elgar\u2019s<\/strong> The Dream of Gerontius<\/em> (1999) and the Verdi<\/strong> Requiem<\/em> (2000, USA 2007), Vaughan Williams\u2019<\/strong> A Song of Thanksgiving<\/em> (2008, OUP) and Parry<\/strong> Blest Pair of Sirens<\/em> & Jerusalem<\/em> (2011).<\/p>\n\n\n\n David finds these disciplines enrich one another and for the same reason also enjoys teaching youngsters and adults of all ages and standards, from beginners to fellow professionals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" This is the personal website for David and Kate Meacock.
