Kate enjoys teaching all ages, from beginner to diploma standard, with theory as required, passing on a wealth of knowledge gained from the UK\u2019s top Conservatoire teachers and her own performing experience as soloist and accompanist. Pupils’ recent successes have included Piano and Theory Associated Board Grade exam passes with Distinction (including one who has passed Grades 1-5, all with Distinctions) and Merit – though she is happy to teach pupils, learning for pleasure as an end in itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kate has helped coach two pupils to read music at Oxford University, and has had some experience working with people with Special Education Needs; including dyslexia and autism.  One recent pupil who started with Kate privately, continued with her as a scholar at the High Wycombe Music Centre and subsequently gained a place to the Junior Academy at the Royal Academy of Music, London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kate teaches in both Chalfont St. Peter as well as in Piddington, West Wycombe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kate’s initial piano lessons were with her mother from about the age of 6 and she then went to her first piano teacher, aged 8. Kate’s teachers included Jean Hickox, mother of the world-famous conductor. She gained a first class Honours degree and a Masters degree and her ABRSM in Piano teaching at the Birmingham Conservatoire. She then spent a year specialising in accompaniment at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Piano Teachers\/Masterclasses included internationally known Philip Martin (also composition) Peter Donohoe and Graham Johnson.<\/p>\n<\/div>
