Compositions and Arrangements
David Meacock has doodled at the piano, composed and arranged music for as long as he can remember, and considers this has given him a better understanding of other composers' intentions.
His early compositions often exploited his virtuoso abilities on the piano - with similar expectations of others! More recently he has written solo songs and carols, and enjoyed exploiting his rich tonal, but chromatic harmonic palette in both original choral works and arrangements.
His first arrangements were during his teens with early versions of a virtuoso transcription of Stanley Myres’ Cavatina (better known as the Deer Hunter theme) and a close harmony version of Silent Night.
David most ambitious arrangements are unquestionably his reduced orchestrations of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius and the Verdi Requiem. All of David’s works are available for hire either from David directly or other major publishers.
